Our design H.E.L.P., standing for Homeless Emergency Life Pack, acts as a contractible shelter with secure internal storage. This product has countless possible applications and iterations.
When expanded, the shelter is 7.5 feet long, more than large enough to fit an average sized person, by 3.5 feet tall, tall enough for the average person to sit up inside comfortably. When contracted, the box is 3.5 feet tall and 1.5 feet wide. Once contracted, it acts as a suitcase which can be easily transported with personal items safely inside.
This allows those who are homeless to have a temporary shelter with a place to store their personal items while transitioning into a more stable position. That is not the only application of this product, however. In situations where people have had their homes and communities destroyed by natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, floods or other cataclysms, this product can be prepacked with necessities people may need, such as food, water, blankets, clothing or first aide products. The items inside can be tailored to match the specific needs of the victims of that particular natural disaster type.
In the future, this product can be adapted to allow room for more than one person to sleep inside as well as the ability to hook to a bike for easier transportation, in addition to many other possible additions to the product we can make. With easier set-up than a tent as well as a more secure area to store valuables, this product can satisfy many of the physical and emotional needs those impacted by natural and financial disasters are missing. Overall this product can make a difference in not just our city, but also countless other cities around not just the United States, but around the world.
